Welcome to the Fiscal Year (FY) 2018-19 Year End Highlights. Since 1982, we have proudly served as the Community Development Commission and Housing Authority of the County of Los Angeles. On May 16, 2019, the agency underwent one of the most drastic changes in its 37 years of service, merging both entities into the Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA) – which was a turning point for our agency.
The merger was no small effort. Every employee was called upon to participate – whether through developing the brand, educating our clients, rolling out the new look, or simply taking the time to understand how this change helped improve our customer service, enhance our service delivery, and streamline our business operations. The dedication and enthusiasm displayed by employees ensured a seamless transition, helped ease the impact on our clients, and led to minimal interruptions in our daily operations. Our Board of Commissioners, Housing Advisory Committee, County Counsel, and Executive Team helped successfully navigate the road to a successful merger. As such, we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that contributed to getting us where we are today.
While the launch of the LACDA was a big focus of the year, staff remained dedicated to our daily responsibilities. We continued to fulfill our mission to Build Better Lives and Better Neighborhoods by maintaining our lease-up rate, celebrating groundbreakings and grand openings, awarding loans to businesses to allow them to expand, and congratulating our residents as they graduate into self-sufficiency.
As we move forward in the new FY, we celebrate the growing portfolio of services, projects, and opportunities that will make positive and lasting impacts on the communities we serve, and reaffirm our commitment to serving Los Angeles County residents and businesses with empathy, integrity, and purpose.
